Just another Lemonade (stand) Sunday . . .

Hi All. .
I don’t think I came out of the house yesterday, so I owe my kids. They have been wanting to pull out the lemonade stand.. with Lucy it’s all about the cash, with Kate it’s all about being social (and who are we kidding, with me, it’s all about the cool lemonade stand !) Now, we live on a busy road, in an old neighborhood with a lot of dog walkers and runners, perfect for this kind of thing.. so it’s time. I found this great re-cycled cardboard lemonade stand last year on line and while it was killing me not to insist on a pattern or color in which to paint it … I let them have at it.

So, what would a post be without all things lemonade .. leading to all things lemon yellow, to all things citrus that I love and that bring inspiration …

With the lemon totally now on the brain, I am pondering just how to incorporate them into design.  I don’t think I have ever painted walls a solid school-bus yellow, but I know I have incorporated yellow in the design. It could be in the way of a stand-alone yellow dresser, fabrics, a lamp.  I feel like just a few splashes of yellow is all it takes unless you are really making a lemon statement, then in that case I would put it everywhere ! There are no rules.

The above ideas translated into this room design (by Ashley). She just infused a few yellow accessories, they pop, but don’t overwhelm.

Continuing with my citrus-on-the-brain-rant I remember back to my last buying trip in NYC. On on rainy day, I walked past the Kate Spade www.katespade.com window in my favorite neighborhood, the Flat Iron District. The rainy day was instantly brightened with this window display. Mixing reds, pinks, oranges with the lemons work all day long for girls that love warm colors and these colors never go out of style

Some of my favorite bright sunny fabrics … .

Translating into a room design …

Design by me.. Photos by me.. This client loved pink and orange, old and new. One of the funnest projects I’ve done this year.

Now See how Kate Spade mixed in the teal shoes, in design, mixing in a random color is all it takes to bring a specific color palette to life !

Now when checking my fabric vault (the one in my brain) I pulled up the Studio Bon (a vendor of our) www.studiobon.com and low and behold on their blog… we are on the same wave length
