Install of the Day !

Hey !

Every once in a while you get to work on an amazing house with an amazing history !  This project is one of those.  In Hickory, NC this home was once designed by the Albert Hadley, but that was back in the day.  Details stand the test of time and this banister is no exception . . .  When I walked in for the first time this foyer stopped me in my tracks.  It was from the front door forward homeowner's Sunday and Jason Richardson and I worked to bring this home back to life.  Luckily all the details were perfect just as they were, it just needed a fresh coat of paint and some new pieces.  Mr. Hadley knows what he's doing!

Take a look as I walk you through !

I love this classic floor, we decided to use a soft white here and everywhere.  A statement chandelier was a must.  I placed a modern console and with a little photo shop magic added this pendant (due any day now).  We decided it needed it.

The gorgeous metal and brass banister is perfection.

A pair of "work of art" sconces.

Sunday had a great idea with this large wood sculpture.  The combination of all these pieces create a stunning modern and clean visual at the front door.

Off the entry,  a dining room and living room.  We carried the whites in those rooms as well.

This dining room is the new home of two pieces I had made by local artist, Josh Utsey.  The chandelier and dining table are again modern and sleek yet warm and one-of-a-kind.
Metal and upholstered chairs and simple window treatments and accessories finish it off.

This space is inviting and simple for nightly use.  I love the large square table as oppose to a more typical round or rectangle, perfect for this room size.

As you flip around you see the living room.

The moldings and beautiful big windows and fireplace of course all keepers.  Sunday added the black fireplace balls, love and we had her sectional to work around.

Very clean and simple with a large piece of art, a combination of my husband's work and paper by one of my favorites Porter Teleo

The new chandelier is a show stopper and snakes across the ceiling.

New metal barrel chairs and a super modern metal kidney coffee table.

I love this room !

Their kitchen face lift transformed the once dated and dark room.  New tile, and a simple paint job on the perimeter cabinets.  She did add a new large and stunning island and we picked a single large pendant.

The kitchen feeds into the wood paneled family room, perfect as it was.  we painted the back of the wood cabinets black and added new furniture.

A new modern chesterfield sofa, tacked wood TV console table and very modern ceiling fixture.  Sunday and I had her 2 chairs recovered as well as adding a hide to the iron coffee table.  She has such great taste, it made my job easy.

The web bar through the dutch door is now a dark, dark gloss charcoal and the antique mirror back splash looks so fab.

Such a pleasure working on this project.  This house is so beautiful and I cannot wait for the Spring to visit the amazing grounds around back.. stay tuned and I'll post a pic !

A few of my favorite Hadley Quotes !!!!

“So many young decorators today are trying to reinvent the wheel, and the results are sometimes very dubious,”  “They’re looking to do things that have never been done before. And quite often it’s done without authority, without knowledge or a background in taste.”

“There’s no point creating anything beautiful for somebody who’s a slob,” he notes. “Housekeeping is part of the art of living. If you don’t have that, forget it.”

"Decoration is really about creating a quality of life, and a beauty in that life that nourishes the soul, that makes life beautiful."

"I deeply believe that a beautiful decor can have a beneficial influence on our lives."

Happy Monday!
