Luxe Life Camp

Hi There !

Every summer July 4th weekend is followed by a drop off at camp for my youngest.  She counts the days every year and I don't blame her.  I went to the same camp for years (as did my mother). There's something about being in the Blue Ridge Mountains in those rustic cabins surrounded by your girl friends.  Wondering the trails filled with green, playing at the barn, and really just tuning it all out and enjoying nature, great food and cool mountain air.

Lisa Sherry has taken that camp feeling and amped it up to a whole new level without taking away the charm and special feeling camp brings.   When I heard about her Luxe Life Camp at Skyland Camp for girls, near Asheville, I couldn't sign up fast enough.  First of all Lisa is a designer and friend I have gotten to know over the past years and her style and approach to design is something I greatly admire.  She has impeccable taste, but more importantly, her approach to design goes beyond the perfect space and more a lifestyle for her clients.

During your long weekend at camp you will experience the true camp feeling but with all the luxury us grown ups girls love.  A little boho and a lot of chic.  Gourmet meals, coffees, and cocktails.  Sleep on a high tread count sheets with the cool air across the cabin's sleeping porch.  Take a yoga class, go riding, create a piece of art or two, watch a late night movie with your new girl friends in the barn. Go for a swim, try your hand at archery or just enjoy a quick massage.  Do as much or as little as you want.  I particularly loved porch sitting and listening in on a little Design 101 tip or two, with a gorgeous snack spread laid out so beautifully.

Destination: BHI

Hi There . . .

Ran over to the coast the other morning, destination Bald Head Island. Working on a new project for a long time client who recently purchased a vacation home right on the marsh.  Goal, give it a little style, updating and all the comforts of home, while paying attention to the fact it may be rented here and there so easy fabrics and simple lines.  A lot of measuring was going on.

Reached out to my friend and designer Lisa Sherry to see if she happened to be at her place the same weekend, and I was in luck.  Our quick trip turned into time to brainstorm on projects, catch up, talk shop, teach a few social media tricks and tips, eat, drink and indulge in guilty "stupid girl" TV crazy we all hate to admit we watch.  Such fun !

I have seen her gorgeous home in Lonny, but to see it in person was a treat.  Her signature white on white style was so comfortable, easy and inviting.  The functionality of this space was just what you would look for in a retreat.  There was whimsy, luxe, and perfect attention to all the details.  Thanks so much Lisa for turning a work trip into such a fun trip!

Shout Out to Lisa Sherry !

Hi . . .

I have to give a shot out to Designer, Lisa Sherry.  I recently installed the bedrooms of three sisters and from the moment I stepped in my client's home I knew she had worked with Lisa Sherry on a few of the rooms downstairs.  Gorgeous !  Lisa's signature look was apparent and the lighting and details that I saw were perfect for this newly built home.  Mekenzie shot a few of my favorite details, which I shared back with Lisa.  So so pretty ! Take a look . . .

Gorgeous table and vintage chairs

Ceiling mount lights can be so blah, this one . .  so good.

I think this was my favorite thing of all.  What I thought was just a large pieces of cool art, was actually a framed out door to a small hidden powder room.

Painted complete in a navy lacquer - it was a stunner !

And this fixture in the dining room . . . wow.  I actually chose the same one for an upcoming job.  Loved seeing how it will really look !

Living the Lux Life

Hi There . . . .

It's done, I am going back to camp.  I spoke with Windy O'Conner yesterday and she filled me in on just how fun Lisa Sherry's Lux Life weekend at the Skyland Camp for Girls is.  I can't wait.  Lisa Sherry, a designer I so admire, is hosting a 3-day weekend in the mountains outside of Asheville to relax, reenergize and re-educate.  Being a long time camper myself, heading back to an established girl's camp of nearly 100 years will no doubt bring back fond memories for me, but this time, it will involve all the creature comforts and "activities" I love.  Read ALL about it here, but as Lisa describes . . " think barns, sleeping porches, pool, trails, horses, archery and counselors, now imagine it with luxury, spa-like activities, a clean-eating menu, coffee truck, cocktails and over-the-top detail right down to thread count, design workshops, and an art work shop with Windy O'Connor."

What's not to love . . .

Should be such a relaxing couple of days . . . and it's not too late to join !
