Install of the Day !

Hey There . . .

. . . and a "Good Friday" it was . . . I got my client off the floor (meaning her sofa was finished today and we ran up to High Point and snagged it!)  Now, not too long ago I got a phone call from  Kory Isenberg.  A woman moving from St. Louis to Charlotte.  When she told me her new place was downtown in The Vue, I was most excited.  I have done several long distance jobs as of late, but this one was coming to me, and in a venue different from what I usually do.  We just needed to figure it out over the phone!   I loved talking with Kory . .  we sent pictures back and forth and talked about what she needed, the style she liked and how she lives.  I took all that and ran with it and thank you for that Kory!

It all started with a conversation, mainly about color.  Kory has a piece of art she wanted to work around (see it down there in the design board).  She loved the deep reds and teals . . and so do I.  She also had a few pieces of furniture that had a mid-century vibe -  went with that.  Our main focus was the living space and she was game for new things for a new life in Charlotte !

Take a look at my thoughts . . .

And here's what we pulled off today !

Prior to the move, I had my painters paint over the high tan walls with a cool, bright grey.  We also brought in a light teal in both bathrooms . .

I'm glad we both aren't afraid of color!

The art that inspired it all . . .

Both the new sofa and chairs have the lines of mid century which complemented her existing coffee table perfectly.
Today, after we got the sofa and chairs in, we did a fast accessory shopping trip and scooped up a desk, more art, some pillows and this great vase . . love the bead work.

The long kitchen area needed an island but also a table.  This piece with it's wood top on wheels, serves as both.. perfect.  A bit of wall paper lines the wall in the entry to add a bit more color to the front of these digs.

Great color combination !

Great pieces !

A new pillow or two topped it all off.

Great install - great working with Kory, and I know she was surprised when she came home - and most excited about having somewhere to sit !!!

Looking forward to moving into the Master.. up those circular stairs - stay tuned.. just a few weeks out.

Bring on the Mint . . . It's Sweeeet.

Hi All . . .

Mint Green.  I have always loved this color, but for a while now I have been drawn to it so much more.  I predict it will be next year's Pantone Color of the year... well probably not.. but it's coming.  I have started mixing it in here and there, in my office, on a job or two.  Who's ready for a room full?  Take a look at just how yummy it can be, and with Spring so close it's pulling me out of the winter blues!

Fresh, light, striking and can be mixed with a lot of unexpected color combinations.  Take another look at Mint in fabrics, fashions, paint and wall papers!  And give us a call if you see something you can't live without . . .

Splurge on an Amazing Frame !

Hi All . . .

Keep driving right past the frame warehouses of the world, forgo the sale at Ikea.  Splurge a little and frame your latest masterpiece in something special.

Keith recently finish this piece for our living room.  It's an encaustic... meaning melted wax.  I love this piece.   Wanting to frame it in something special, I handed it off to Veronica at Campania Fine Molding.  They work with the trade (so I'll be happy to jump in to help with your framing), artists, designers, galleries and the like.

What I love about Campania is #1 their knowledge and #2 their HUGE selection of really cool frames !  I let Veronica "come up with something great" because I trust her and I am a firm believer in .. letting people who know their job.. do it.  She has a great eye and I knew she'd take care of me, and that is exactly what she did.  Take a look at this lucite frame.  YUM...

Now, the cool thing about these frames.. the colors and patterns available . . .
Take a gander .....

I Want a Chaise and "Zinc' It Up !!

Hey There . . .

The chaise. A big hit at Susan Brown's this past week (I even curled up in it and watched my installer finish all the details). The chaise is like that corner on your sectional, that everyone fights for.  Its the comfy chair and ottoman you have .. but all in one.  If you have the room for it, go for it.

I thought I'd pull images of all the chaises available at Lucy and Company, mixed with some of my favorite new fabrics and pillows.  Remember .. any fabric is available !

. . . and for the sleeker look . . .

How about a faux throw or pillow for your chaise.

We just received our new book from Zinc.  Our rep gave us a preview a few weeks ago and we just received it.... I'd cover my chaise in one of these fab fabrics or a couple of pillows . . .
