Install of the Day !

Morning !

Held up at the airport waiting to take Lucy down to school to pick her classes for her freshman year.. what happened, she turned 18 yesterday, now she's leaving.. While I am beyond excited for her.. kinda sad here.. it's getting so close... 

Flight delayed so I thought I'd take the time to post something.. I know I have been an absentee blogger.  I use to love coming home and doing a post about a quick install we did and Mekenzie had shot earlier that day, but it's changed a bit at Lucy & Co.. mainly the type of work.  We are busy, busy with bigger projects.  Exciting to have clients renovating and purchasing new homes and needing help with the entire thing!  Bigger project = tons of logistics and longer lead time to install as we are at the mercy of the contractor !  Not to say we don't do a room here and a room there.. but primarily jobs are quite involved and it's all I can do to eat dinner and go to bed when I get home !!  

We have four huge jobs happening in Nashville at the moment.. installing 2 in Aug and the other two in the fall and winter.. Maggie was up in DC the past couple of days for a meeting with a new client and big project and I'm heading to Philly not too long from now to install a townhouse.  Loving the out of town work.

Meanwhile back in Charlotte, stay tuned for design inspiration on an Elizabeth neighborhood renovation that just started and a big mid century modern renovation we just got the plans for ... crazy fun !!

But back to this . . . We recently finished this home in January.. big first floor reno (see here).  After my client took a breath we jumped on the Master Bedroom to complete everything.  I love this master . . . It's so large that it can handle it's own sitting room !

Lastly the kid's TV / Homework Room.  We wrapped that up as well with the finishing touches.  Just of the first floor hallway I wanted it to visually tie to the new pretty downstairs.. Thanks to the kids for growing up some so I could do that !

Happy Sunday All...

Time for An Update !

Hi !

It has been a long summer!  I am so ready for the Fall and with school starting Monday I can see the light at the end of the crazy summer tunnel.  Now don't get me wrong, I love spending time with the kids and take a trip or two, new adventures and old favorites, but work wise I feel like I've been traveling and installing since June with 4 full houses, two out-of-towners, and several single room projects filtered in on the other days.  Bree also got married last weekend !  She amazed me by pulling off the perfect wedding all while staying on top of the orchestrating at the office !  Maggie has been running around as well on several of her own projects, and moving in to her new digs !!   But next week we wrap up the last of the out-of-towners - the Miami job.  So seeing school start and the end of summer I so near, I am breathing a big 'ole sigh ! We may have time to actually shop for the perfect pumpkin !

I've been working on two new Fall projects and feel like I have a jump on them, having gotten the green light on both.  Thrilled both clients loved the designs and the tweaking was minor which I love. Both spaces are paying a nod to a particular look I am so drawn to.  A clean black and white palette.

Take a look at the first of two.  On this project I asked Ben Collins of The Salins Group to jump in and help me with the exterior renovation - a new outdoor living space.  I am working on the pretty and the renovation of the interior living space and kitchen.  It is time for an update and I am loving this plan.

New large black iron windows and door to the outdoor space.  Visually it will feel like the outside is part of the living room with all this gorgeous light !  I cannot wait.

New sofa and chairs all on top of a new rug.  Plenty of new accents pieces and a touch of new paper.

The kitchen is open to the living room as well and I figured . . while we were ripping things out . . . we could change the large current island to, well, a larger one but in a T shape with new counter stools.   Fresh paint and a new counter tops.  A fresh new feel and look.

The plans are done for the outdoor space and just yesterday the demo began.  This space will be much used I know !

While I not a fan of the compete Restoration Hardware / Crate and Barrel outdoor look, must admit a lot of their pieces are unbeatable as far as price and style !  Filtering some unique accessories will change it up from a complete "showroom look."

So I am most excited to see this get into motion.  Stay tuned for design no 2 for client no. 2 !

Install of the Day - Working Around A Wonderful Wallpaper!

Hey!

So while working on splitting these sisters up, one had to stay in the original space she shared.  In an effort to freshen up her space, we ended up changing out most of it.  We couldn't help ourselves.  I think they were both over the pink and wanted a new look.  Both wanted blues tones, and this paper was her no. 1 choice.  Working around that I pulled in the brass, white and yellow primarily and replaced the twin beds with a queen. We also added a new dresser and side tables.  The rug had seen better days so we replaced that as well.  I have always loved this paper.  Work on a design board to give her a real vision of the space . . .

With the bed centered on the biggest wall, we added a long pole with full curtains as a bit of a back drop.  These did stay from the original design I did years ago.  New paper, floating white shelves, a big focal chandelier and rug.  I love this bed.  Our upholster makes them for us and they are made to last !  A little glimmer in the mirrored side tables and gorgeous more grown up lamps !

Happy Monday !

Install of the Day ! A Girl's Room in Perpetual Bloom!

Hello There !

Happy Friday and I'm glad it's here.  It's been a lo-o-o-o-ng week, a crazy week, a busy week.  We are almost finished shifting everything at the office and I can't wait for that to be over !!  We have moved our entire back office to the front and reorganizing the entire back housing a plethora of accessories.  It's like early Spring cleaning, all hands have been on deck.  Myself, Bree, Maggie, Betsy, Keith and now Keith's brother and Deb (new to the crew).  I am most excited about the new vibe around there.  So speaking of Spring cleaning . . . this space we installed this week was all inspired by a wallpaper my young 12 year old client chose herself.  I love it and was happy to run it it for her.  Having shared a room with her sister all these years, it was time to split the two up and give them each a room of their own.  I involved them both in the project early on, letting them drive the design with the paper choice.  I then surprised them both with all the details, bells and whistles.

Voila, a former guest room, now all Evelyn's.  Enjoy girl !!
