Install of the Day !

Hi . . .

Finley, sweet Finley, the youngest of the Crowder clan.  She was getting the shaft.  Her two brothers had a re-design to their rooms, Mom and Dad had a new bedroom, the house as a whole was completely re-done.  We had to give her a little something - something !

Finley scored a few showroom pieces I was looking to sell.  Yep, getting rid of it all to change things up.  We filtered in a navy dresser, upholstered chair, and tall bookcase... major pieces.  So wall paper, rug, windows and art were all we needed to pull a new look together !

Take a look at what we planned to do.

Mekenzie and Maggie spent the day installing and shooting.  Maggie did a great job with the layout and accessories.  This space was transformed from it's pink walls and crib to a new, more colorful and chic space for this cute toddler.  The plan is now in place to remove her crib and filter in a bed... she'll be ready to go !

A well styled bookcase !

With a new more interesting pull !

The bath just needed a new window treatment.

Now Finley is as pulled together as the rest of the clan.

Happy Sunday !

Install of the Day !

Hey There !!

After leaving Carla's we head over to Lori Crowder's to finish up her kid's playroom.  Playrooms should be fun, but organization is more fun (for us Mom's).  Working back at the Crowder's house one of the last rooms I worked on was this playroom.  On the main floor, just off the hallway it needed to tie to the rest of the house with it's color palette.  With two boys and a little girl the look and colors need to be thought about as well !  Take a look at the inspiration I gave Lori.

So even though I chose to paint it grey to work with the house, punching it up with the curtains, rug, art and pillows did the trick in making it fun !

We added workable roman shades, a new sofa and rug and these great swivel chairs with fun graphic fabric.  The existing bookcase on the left wall was already there, but very shallow.  In order to hide some of the toys, I had new doors that pop out at different depths to create a clean yet functional look.  Very graphic and modern from the traditional look it had.

Loving the fun pillows !

Art, always important.  We flanked the back window with this pretty piece, along with our favorite Peace sign and Walrus . . . they jive and I love the detail.

Swivel chairs . . . perfect.

I can't believe we are almost done at Lori's house . . . boo.  She's been so fun to work with.  Last project, their outdoor space.  Pulling pieces at the moment, stay tuned !!!

Install of the Day !

Hey There !

Have two young boys with an adjoining bathroom?  Have two boys who need a little style in their rooms?  New bedding can help, but a little wall paper will really do the trick.  The impact of these two papers I added to these boy's rooms transformed them completely!

I think Lori Crowder is striking while hot and with all the updates we have made to her home.  Her boy's spaces had great beds but needed some pulling together and a fun color punch.  One loves dinosaurs the other loves green, both connect with a bathroom.   I wanted a cohesive look on that end of the hallway, giving them each what they wanted.  Most importantly, giving them furniture pieces that will grow with them.

The bed and bedside table for Cooper's Room were great, we just added a second bedside table and moved it all to another wall.  The bedding and rug were our starting point - he loved them, we just added to it !  New wall paper, dresser, shelf, chandelier, and windows.  Take a look at his board.

We repositioned the bed to the double window wall, painted it's backdrop pale grey.  The two side walls now have a big splash of wall paper and push pin boards and a new dresser and mirror.

The dresser and this great, industrial shelf were added.  The black hardware on both tie back to the cool new chandelier.  All these pieces will last well into the late teens with their older look.

As Cooper gets older, the dino bedding and accessories can simply be switched out for an older look.  voila !

Upholstered cornices and bamboo blinds are all boy and easy to work with.

Don't think you can put the bed in front of the windows . . . sure you can!

Nash's Room had a navy bunk and navy dresser.  All he wanted was a big dose of green!
We decided to give it to him in this stripe wall paper and a few accents.

He also needed a better overhead chandelier and new desk.  Both with an industrial vibe as well.

Love this fun paper !

He too can switch out the bed someday for an older, maybe wood queen size and all will work.

Again . . . such fun working with the Crowder's.  We will miss our dropping in on them with new, fun things !  But we do have the outside to work on . . . and Spring is coming soon here in Charlotte.

Install of the Day !

Hi There !

We have been working with the Crowder family for a while now, and they could not be a nicer family! As you have seen in previous posts we made our way throughout the downstairs starting at the front door and making our way back. We have now made our way up the stairs. . . first stop the master!

The room had large wooden furniture that looked heavy and dark. The lines of the furniture were bulky and very traditional.  I immediately thought that the room need to be brighter and have a fresh clean feel. The house itself is not a contemporary house, so the design still needed to have a classic feel with a touch of color, softer lines and transitional furniture.

This fabric was my jumping off point !

I really liked the mix of the grey and browns this fabric had, with the pops of color which lead me to the curtain fabric. . .

The metallic embroidered detail in the curtains is gorgeous . . .

To me this is a more masculine fabric, I think it's important to have a balance of masculine and feminine touches in the master bedroom.

Like I said before, our main goal was to lighten up the space and make it feel larger. When choosing the case goods I chose a mix of white and dark woods with clean lines to help with that. I anchored the room on a fun, light, animal print rug in a cream color. Layering different shades of cream and white give the space a warmth, where as sometimes all while can read stark.

Take a look at the finished product !

These blue mercury glass lamps might be my favorite thing in the room!

This art brought all of the colors together in the room and filled a big void about " his " dresser

First words out of Lori's mouth were it "looks so much bigger". . . mission accomplished!
