Finding Your Colors

Hi There

Lavender, Grey and Caramel . . . I love that combination.  I'm writing this post because I am doing a little research myself for my own studio. Yeah it's been a year since I moved into our killer loft at Atherton Mills.  A Year !!!! Now it looks great, but I have been so busy, getting around to finishing off some final details have been on the bottom on my list.  But I am getting excited to finish now that the main element is going in Monday !!!

With a neutral palette I can really go any direction.  I wrote a post back on 1/2/17 and am surprised I  am still drawn to the same color combination.  It must have staying power in my mind I guess.

I have always loved the combination of a dirty lavender mixed with a little darker caramel.  Pulling a few images of that color combination for a visual to make sure I still love it.

Yep, still do.  The whites, blacks and greys are warmed up with that touch of lavender.  The caramel keeps it from looking to sweet.

Here's a little more visual eye candy for the day !

I love this look !

Request for Lavender . . . Part Two.

Hey There . . .

I was talking about using lavender as a pop color - I am working with an existing client who requested just that in her family room re-design.   This design, though, needs to incorporate several other things including the request for lavender.   Yellow, blue, style and easy to ship.  It took a lot of thought, but kinda, sorta,  am loving the look !  The one thing that is making  it work I think - the curtain fabric.  It pulled in all the colors I needed.  Take a look.

With the kitchen and living room a few feet away it was important to have a good transition.  This is the design of the nearby room that I needed to take into consideration.

Love the look !

Request for Lavender . . . Part One.

Happy Lavender

I have not always loved purple.  At one point in time I had a tone on tone cream filled house, why I don't know.  But my style changes and the things I love change.  I finished re-designing the showroom to fill it with saturated reds, purples and golds.  So I never say never to a certain color anymore.  But when it comes to this year's "color of the year"  I feel a little goes a long way.  They call it Radiant Orchid which is a clean, vibrant pinkish - lavender.  Not one of my favorites, but I will say, I am loving deep purple and soft lavender these days.  In my pinterest files I find inspiration just like the rest of you and recently when I was looking at "all things purple" I came across these images by well known designers who know how to use lavender - in my opinion.  A small dose is all it take to get the feel without overdoing it.

Take a look on the perfect way to drop lavender in your space !

I have had the lavender request and like the others, I believe a little goes a long way !
In this space, the back of the chairs and edge of the rug were as far as I went.

But just recently I was asked to incorporate lavender in a home without any, in a room not far away from a living space filled with blue and yellow.  Took a lot of pondering and more time than usual because to find a way to visually make it work and logistically to get it to the West Coast without costing a bloody fortune.  Stay tuned for the design I put together using lavender !

Love'n Lavender !

Hi everyone . . .

I am loving this recent (and continuing) project and wanted to show you how it was coming along.  My client has a new home to fill and it has been fun seeing  each room come together.  This past summer my mission was to get the bedrooms for the girls done . . and did - we have now moved onto the breakfast room, den and master.

Lavender and peach - colors of choice.  Because all three rooms were open to each other, I pulled my colors from her existing rug and sofa . . .

I was very excited to create a custom rug for the breakfast area.  We had it made by one of my vendors in Peru and totally worth the wait !!  Take a look at the design.

I pulled in a curved bench and three upholstered chairs to circle her table.  The bench and chairs have a pleather front (for easy clean up) and wool patterned back.  Love the colors.  All atop this amazing rug!

the dining table, available in 48, 54, and 60" round
dark shell, gloss black and gloss white

We added some great pillows to punch it up.

The den is coming together, now that we have wall papered the back of the bookcases and styled them up a bit with new black and whites.

I had my amazing framers "shadow box" some sentimental costume jewelry  to add to the bookcase - turned out so so good !

Take a closer look at the fabrics as well as new counter stools for the kitchen !

Phase Three . . . the master bedroom is in the works with a new upholstered bed, chandelier, console and side tables.  Our dreamy color palate of lavenders, grays and taupes with a good mix of metal and mirror.  Take a look at where we've started.

We've are now working on picking the perfect bedside lamps . . so many options !

And rather than a pair of chairs, we might do a chaise . .

Stay tuned to see how it plays out !
