Mid Century Diamond in the Rough

Howdy.

I have been busy, busy working on a design plan for a major renovation in my hood.  My neighbor's the Hanes have foolishly . . . kidding . . . decided to take on the overhaul of a would-be beauty around the corner from us near the Charlotte Country Club.  The property alone is amazing and the potential is endless.

They are at the gutting stage.  Lots to do.  Ceilings coming down, kitchens and baths to be gutted, new additions to be added, it's overwhelming but man, is it going to be amazing.  We met yesterday morning to look over the pretty stuff . .  the design, to see if I am even close to what they are envisioning.  Thought I'd give you a look at, what I think, will be pretty cool !!

The design boards walk you through the main front door into a library with a view to the new enclosed porch and two sided fireplace to the great room.  I want to paper that room for a lot of initial drama and while keeping the rest of the house bright white.  Four conversation chairs and a style bookcase.  Low drama chandelier with accents of brass.

Down the hall you walk into the main kitchen, great room and a unique "morning room" with a curved bar.  So so cool.

I am proposing a wood, white and dark teal combination on the kitchen cabinets with a bit pop of color on the back splash.   One of the cement tiles I mentioned in an earlier post !

Keeping the parquet floors for sure, and mixing in a long live edge dining table, big lighting and mis-matched chairs

The family room will have huge, huge windows and open, towering fireplace.  A large, custom sectional with fun lighting and modern art pulling the kitchen colors into the room.

The goal:  interesting, but fun, kid friendly furniture !

Off the family room another window filled covered porch.  Perfect place for a daybed and a good mix of textures and different furniture types.

Now it's on to the bedrooms... #lovemyjob !!
